Between April of 2010 and April of 2011, I worked at  Knowledge Anywhere (Bellevue, Washington, USA). My primary duties where to work for the Global Product Education organization (Glasgow, Delaware, USA) of Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics,  in the development and localization of customer training courses that have been released as the Personalized Education Plan (PEP) platform.

Below is publicly available information from the Official Siemens Press Release (Siemens text and link available as of  11th January 2011):

[PEP is the] industry’s first competency-based clinical laboratory education model focused exclusively on the individual. Healthcare professionals, guided by their own instructional Avatar, are easily able to plan a wide variety of product-specific, professional development and job-relevant courses. And because PEP also tracks each individual’s training path, it becomes easier for healthcare staff to monitor their progress as they worktowards achieving required knowledge proficiency requirements and ensuring they remain current and compliant.

PEP offers customized laboratory education that blends interactive training with hands-on practice and assessment to reinforce and internalize learning.

PEP consists of three components:

My Planner: Allows user and supervisor to design a Personal Education Plan by selecting competency courses that support the specific job role.

My Curriculum: Launches the user’s personal virtual workbook that contains all the educational activities contained in the Planner. The user selects the learning activities and completes them when and where it is convenient.

My Transcript: The learner can track the progress and completion of all online learning and hands-on activities as well as Continuing Education (CE) credits earned.

The design work involved direct development of instrument-specific training courses for end-users (Clinical Laboratory and Healthcare Professionals) in English. I also managed and developed the localization of product training materials in Spanish and assisting the localization in Brazilian Portuguese.

The training materials for instruments that I had worked on in the Personalized Education Plan where:

  • Siemens Dimension RxL  (English Master Course transition from Adobe Presenter into PEP)
  • Siemens ADVIA Centaur CP (English Master Course in PEP)
  • Siemens VersaCell (Spanish localization in PEP)
  • Siemens CS2000i (Spanish localization in PEP)
  • Siemens Dimension ExL  (Spanish localization in PEP)
  • Siemens ADVIA Centaur CP (Spanish localization in PEP)
